My cellular woke me at around 6.35 AM. Having had holidays the past month, that was rather early. So it was with red eyes and a grumpy face, that I dragged myself out of the bed and towards the bathroom.
July 26th, and it was the first day for our RL meeting. I have been living home at my parents for a couple of days since there was a 5v5 football tournament on a neighbor island named Fano, and after it was done I had a couple of days off before we went for the RL meeting (spent a day reading the new Harry Potter book, besides hanging with the old gang). I had an appointment with Bollebob and our warrior Karnee to meet up at Esbjerg train station at 7.30 AM, as our train would depart around 7.50 for Berlin.
Having never met Bollebob in person before, that alone was a funny feeling - however I did not actually expect him to be waiting at the train station with knives out and a name as well as the <Nihilum> tag hovering above his head. But we managed to find each other. Shortly after that, Karnee joined up.
After 6 hours with a couple of naps, some laughs and some mindless staring out of the window, we finally arrived in Berlin. We found a subway and quickly made our way towards our headquarters, which our sponsor Mousesports kindly let us stay at during the day time.
Now, imagine the feeling of having interacted and shared a whole lot of experiences together as well as talking on ventrilo with people for months, but never actually having met them and put a face onto them yet. Strange as it was, the three of us arrived at WebTower where Mousesports was and joined up with the rest who were already there: Cloze, Blomsterjohn, Mastu, Orco, Inthya, Gd, Melghor, Neg, Zucchero, Johnnyr and a couple of others. Awake and Kungen was already in town and joined up later. Funny enough the tension was rather relaxed and it didnt take us long before we all agreed to order some pizzas while sitting in a circle chatting about whatever nerdy things we could get our minds on.
The afternoon went on and we decided to start moving towards our hotel in order to check in. Since Johnnyr, who lives here in Berlin, told us that it was "just a 500 meter walk" (and you have to consider the fact, that that is a whole lot for most of us) we figured we COULD just manage doing that (as well as dragging our baggage along). As always, faith played tricks on us and Johnnyr got a rather red face after we had to walk around 2 kilometers instead of the 500 meters. Gasping, heavily breathing and exhausted from the heat - we came to the hotel.
After checking in, sorting rooms and so on as well as many beers later - we went downtown to watch The Simpsons movie. Personally I would give it a 4 out of 6. Anyhow, some stayed for a couple of more beers, while the rest decided to head back home to rest out. After all, it had been a long day for a lot of people (Zucc having never taking an airplane before, so he missed his first and all in all walked a longer distance in his airport forth and back from the various Gates than he had ever walked before in his entire life). While we caught a taxi home, some decided to buy a pack of beers and stay at the hotel for the night while the rest decided to stay up and have a good time.
All in all, a nice day of meeting a lot of people, which you already thought you knew, but seeing other sides as well as being mostly shocked by the fact, that Blomsterjohn enjoys a Dr. Pepper.
Stay tuned for tomorrow. |
