Okay. I'm really annoyed right now. Not really because of the topic but because I had to write this twice as the page somehow ate my post and just put out a single link instead of my fully written blog, and of course I did not save it somewhere. So here we go again, fully motivated... Not really.
Here i sit in front of my Computer. Before the above mentioned happened i just got out of the Raid after Teron Gorefiend to go on Standby. It was the first Black Temple Raid where we used an Enhancement Shaman instead of a Feral Druid in the Melee-Group. I checked if something interesting was on TV but sadly i got disappointed. So I tabbed back ingame and saw that Recount of the Teron Gorefiend Fight ( LINK - Note that Hunterpets didn't show in my own and therefore they do not appear in the top for me, Raidchat shows the real one). On the screenshot you also see my Melee Crit rate. That will be important later on.
So i sit there, in front of my PC and actually i start to wonder: How can it be possible that gaining an Enhancement Shaman combined with 2 Haste Potion/Drums of Battle Phases over an ordinary Resto Shaman, Feral Druid and 1 Haste Potion can result in a DPS-gain of only ~160 ( Heres a LINK to an older one).
I start to take a loot at the different Abilities (all clickable):
-Whitedamage
-Heroics
-Bloodthirst
-W hirlwind
You might want to take a look at the Crit Rate of everything. Keep in mind my Crit Rate should be around 34% + slightly more because i occasionally had Grace of Air.
25% Crit Rate with Bloodthirst is REALLY impressive. And over 8% Dodge although Warriors have a talent that reduces targets dodge chance by 2%. So as overview: All Damage-types had a lower Crit Rate than they supposed to have except for the White Damage. Bloodthirst was really gimped that fight with 10% less crit and pretty high dodge-rate too.
So I question myself: Why is the Combat System like this? What are the Advantages and Disadvantages? RNG is really important in the Arena System, just think of Noncrit/Crit/Resist/Macestun/Swordproc/parry/dodge. How can a game that is trying to do its step into the esports-business have so many random factors in it? In PvE the difference might be small especially since Crushings from Bosses are basically out of the game in Endgame, but in PvP it can be gamebreaking. |
