This is going to be long. Grab a drink and if you like fruit, perhaps a kiwi (I'm eating one right now).
First of all, as mentioned previously by Nessaj we're working on fixing broken links and images not showing up on our site per our domain move. This will take a couple of days, it's not the biggest deal in the world though. Make sure to re-login, because cookies have to be set again. Also, due to a domain change, search engines and other major sites linking to us will take a bit to update their links - which results in less traffic for around a week. We've all had holidays and our hard working coders also need some time off - which they currently have.
Now, what have Nihilum been up to lately? Well, not a whole lot to be honest. WoW right now is pretty relaxing and we killed Illidan back in June. Since then we've farmed Black Temple and Hyjal mainly. When Zul'Aman came out we cleared it fast and it's being farmed on a regular basis when members in the guild feel like it. Now.. we have some exciting news that we plan to announce soon, they are pvp related. Stay tuned!
Having discussed what we want to provide you the visitors with, we've decided that we're going to increase the amount of news and content provided. This is not a one-step process, but we have a lot of plans. One of those plans is to redesign the way our site looks and functions. Our ETA on the first version is the end of January. Below this post you will be able to see a very early alpha draft on how you can expect the redesign to look. The biggest change is that we combine Nihilum related news together with the MMO news and display both on the front page for maximum exposure. Please post here and tell us what kind of content you would like to see.. Full Story is a must! Check it out.
Everything doesn't always work out the way you intend it to do. And this is the case even for us. Things change (I've gone through the hardest time in my life this christmas and new years... but we all learn from what we do..), and with year 2008 we have many new things to adapt to. There's many changes being made to our site as mentioned and we have plans all the way up to the end of the summer. Stay with us, spread the word - we plan to impress everyone. We hate to disappoint! Sponsors also come and go, which means that's a part where we have to work hard as well. Rome wasn't built in a day, but we intend to continue to work hard on our site and the upcoming layout is designed based on feedback we've received from you; the Nihilum Community. It's going to be a lot more user friendly.
As previously mentioned, we have some very exciting upcoming news to announce pvp-wise. Soon we'll enter the pvp scene and this time it's going to look a lot different. We're very excited about this and will elaborate on it as soon as possible.
Something else many asked me about when I was in World of Warcraft today doing some Arathi Basin with some friends was if Nihilum is still alive and if we have plans to do Sunwell. Of course we intend to raid Sunwell! We're preparing for it right now. We've basically been ready for Sunwell since July. Summer has passed and now it's winter. During this time only one new instance has been released, Zul'Aman. Which isn't exactly made for our main raid. Not that Zul'Aman isn't fun, but it's not meant for a guild like ours. We all look forward to Sunwell and we absolutely intend to provide you with the latest news and delicious information when we start to raid it this year.
I can't stress what I'm about to say enough. Please realise, we were basically 'done' with World of Warcraft last summer. This means that most of us have time to focus on our jobs, families, girlfriends, life in general and whatever else we enjoy doing. It doesn't mean that Nihilum as a guild is any less strong. Like bears do during the winter. They sleep, as do we.. but not as much, just a little. Did that make sense? Simple: we play less and enjoy what life has to offer when we've defeated all content. Nihilum as a guild is always here; active and ready.
This is the issue with World of Warcraft right now... not enough content for us, as such, our site might feel slow at times, so we're working on making it a lot more appealing and we feel that we're getting there. Especially due to all the things we have planned for 2008. There's also other MMO's that we intend to try out. Perhaps we'll open an Aion and Warhammer Online section of Nihilum too.
Anyway, this was long winded. Hopefully it was an interesting read. I'll end this post with a quote I really like and an image of an early alpha version that show our upcoming design.
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- love is stronger than death.
