When the next expansion for World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King, hits the shelves it'll introduce the new achievements system that's based upon the characters one have, but that isn't all according to Jeffrey Kaplan also known as Tigole, Lead Designer on WoW. Kaplan wants to add account-based achievements as well, mentioning things such as having at least one maximum level alliance and horde characters. The WoW account-based achievements isn't the big reveal though, Blizzard plan on connecting all their games via one universal Blizzard account which also log achievements across all their games.

 

“Your ‘WoW’ score would be just one factor that will go into your Blizzard Level. And rather than call it a ’score,’ we just wanted it to be like you’re leveling up on Blizzard games… You’ll have this Blizzard identity, and you’ll be able to see things like ‘Oh, this guy was great at Diablo III, but he never played Starcraft and he was mediocre in WoW. That sort of thing.” Kaplan explained.

 

Those who've played Xbox 360 games should be able to nod in recognition of the system.
