Reborn V4 Questions and Answers

I know some of you cant wait for v4 to be released. For those of you that have questions regarding this new release this is your chance to get answers.

Reply to this topic with any questions you might have and ill answer them. I already made a list of the most commen questions below:

Q: Is reborn v4 done yet ?
A: Yes reborn ui is as good as done.

Q: When will reborn v4 be released ?
A: When i have writen all documentation and tutorials on installing and modifying reborn v4 + have packaged all templates v4 will be released. I can not give a timeframe yet but its so close to being done you should be able to smell it by now.

Q: Will there be an open Beta ?
A: No there will not be an open beta. The reason is simple: People just think the beta is a final release and will only want to test the beta thinking they would get v4 before anyone else. That is why the beta is closed.

Q: How many new templates will v4 have ?
A: Reborn will have 6 new templates.

Q: Will v4 templates work for v3 ?
A: Yes, but v4 templates will not contain discord action bar + unitframe saved files so you will need to use the v3 ones or install nwe ones yourself.

Q: Will v3 templates work for v4?
A: Yes, but not all templates will have fitting nurfed unitframes.

Q: Why did you switch to nurfed ?
A: To grow and become better change is needed. I still like the discord mods but in my opinion to become even better then any previous version this change is needed.

Q: I don't want to use nurfed can i still use V4 ?
A: Yes, but no discord unitframes or discord actionbar saved files are included with v4. It is easier to use v3.1 and update addons where needed.

Q: Will v3 get any new updates?
A: Yes v3 will get updates but v4 has the highest priority.

Q: That image on the main forums says 'PVP edition' what is so pvp about reborn v4?
A: Reborn was always created in photoshop with only good looks in mind. Reborn v4 is created from ingame with performance and optimal usage as highest priority.

Q: Are the system requirements the same as V3 ?
A: Yes, i still recommand using a good system when running this ui. But reborn v4 has been optimized for performance. And there will be 'LITE' and 'HEAVY' packages where the lite version will be for optimal performance and heavy will be the default usage which is still lower in memory usage then v3.

Q: Is the installation for v4 the same as v3 ?
A: No, V4 will require you to do a little more to get it working.

Q: Is it hard to install reborn v4 ?
A: No its not. Just follow the guides and all will be fine.

Q: Will there be new installation tutorials for v4 ?
A: Yes, im adding tutorials for installing, running and modifying the ui.

Q: What resolutions will be available ?
A: the same as reborn v3.

Q: Will there be widescreen support ?
A: Yes to some extend there will be widescreen templates available.

Q: Will all templates be available in the same resolutions as v3 ?
A: Not sure, I am considering of making a tutorial on changing the ui for different resolutions instead of releasing all templates in 3 or more resolution versions.

Q: Will the default template be available in more resolutions then ?
A: Yes, same as v3 + 1 widescreen

Q: I never installed an addon before will i be able to install v4 ?
A: Sure, if your not totally braindead and you know how to read english then you will be able to get it to work.

Q: Will v4 work on more then 1 character ?
A: Yes, but you will have to modify the .lua files for the nurfed addons seeing they dont have save options.

Q: Edition .lua files ? omg thats so hard
A: No its easy, a tutorial will point out how its done.

Q: Will i be able to modify the ui to my likings ?
A: Yes, reborn v4 allows you to change anything you want. And this time im providing different textures for different options.

Q: I don't like v4 what should i do ?
A: Kill yourself

Q: Does reborn v4 support multi language ?
A: Yes

Q: Does reborn v4 support Mac?
A: v3 worked on macs and nurfed works on macs so i think v4 will run fine.

Q: Can i remove addons from the default list ?
A: Yes

Q: Can i add addons i like ?
A: Yes

Q: Will reborn V4 be updated for Burning Crusade ?
A: Yes, reborn v4 will be updated for any upcomming patches after its release.

Q: I never used nurfed addons before can i still use v4 ?
A: Nurfed is extremely user friendly and everyone can learn to work with it.

Q: Are the nurfed unitframes easily modified ?
A: No, nurfed has no options in-game that allow for fully customizing the unitframes. All editing have to be done in the actual addon files. But rest assured reborn will provide different unitframes for different templates. So im sure you will find one you like for whatever you want changed.

Q: Is reborn v4 designed for level 60 only ?
A: No, the ui works fine for every level but some templates might not have xp bares included. This is easily solved by downloading a custom xp bar addon like BetterEXP.

Q: Reborn v3 needed alot of setting up regarding Stealth / Shapeshiting / stances how will this work in v4 ?
A: You will NOT have to setup any stance / stealth or shapeshift bars. This will work as soon as you run the game after installation.

Wow thats alot of info thank you for all that.

Anyway i have just two questions left, i noticed you said there will be 6 new templates with version 4, are these templates the ones you posted before in another topic?

Also will the LE and guild only templates be included when you release it or will those come out later?

the limited edition + guild edition will be available on the release of reborn v4. you can grab em from the v4 template section on these forums when that time comes.

Regarding new templates(not showing screens hihi !) here is a list of the names:

- Limited edition
- COH-war
- BR-Wolf
- BR-Serpent
- BR-Dragon
- BR-lotus

all these templates where not available for reborn v3 so i consider even the LE and GE new.

haha, and yes when v4 is out clicking that image will bring you to the release topic. Soon i will add some buttons under it with links to screenshots / templates / and downloads when they are available.

does this mean any time i want to use the ui with any of my other chars thats not my main, im going to have to go in and edit the .lua files just to suit that char?

lua edition in not needed for your main or your alts by default. This means if you install it you will have to set things up in-game. This means you have to change confab change scrolling combat text if you want other options and change the location of the unitframes and action bars.

BUT each template / download will have some .lua files included. These .lua files will have saved files from my character. So if you want the exact same thing as on the screenshots WITHOUT having to set it up ingame. You can use the lua files.

i just made a beta build and for normal installations no .lua editing was needed unless i wanted to use saved files from myself. Its a matter of what you prefer.

Example:
Without .lua editing:
Nurfed action abrs has no save options. So when you install it you will have to add the bars and drag them to the spot that make em fit in the template.

I will add a file with my own saved location for the action bars in a .lua file

With .lua editing:
edit the saved files by replacing my name and realm with yours. Put them in your saved variables folder. Once you start the game the action bars will be in place just as on the screenshot.


Because nurfed uses saved variables for each of your characters .lua editing will allow you to copy paste the settings from character to character. OR if you want different setups for different characters you can do that as well and wont need to edit the .lua files.
