They didn't actually state that they're removing the idea of titles from achievements altogether, they only stated that the 'first to... xxx' titles got removed. Raid achievement firsts still give a title, and so do other achievements. Just the 'You better be on a holiday when WotLK comes out or you won't be the one to get this' achievement titles got the boot.

Oh then is not as bad as I expected it. Still, pretty annoying to remove those titles because of roleplaying. Just because the roleplayers are not able to get those titles they whine to get them removed!

It has little to do with roleplaying. The first of x titles depend enormously on how much spare time you have at the time of the release. I doubt Blizzard wants to encourage people to skip school/work for a title.

Yes, because we all know that Blizzard cares so much about your IRL activities being minimized for wow, that they would make game breaking decisions on it.
